Searching for Fire Red Shrimp (Neocaridina davidi) for sale? These shrimp are one of the most popular choices in the hobby thanks to their deep, solid red coloration. They bring a striking contrast to planted aquariums and look especially vivid against green plants and dark substrates.
Fire Red Shrimp are a selectively bred variety of Neocaridina davidi. They are hardy, adaptable, and well-suited for both beginners and advanced shrimp keepers. They thrive in aquariums with live plants, moss, and hiding spots that allow them to graze naturally throughout the day.
They tolerate a wide range of water conditions compared to more delicate Caridina shrimp. Fire Reds do best in clean, stable water with neutral to slightly alkaline pH. Regular water changes and consistent maintenance will keep them healthy and breeding.
Like all Neocaridina, Fire Red Shrimp feed mainly on algae, biofilm, and decaying plant matter. To keep them in top condition, offer supplemental food every other day with quality shrimp pellets, algae wafers, or blanched vegetables. This helps maintain their intense red coloration.
These shrimp are peaceful and thrive in species-only aquariums or in calm community setups. They can live alongside small, non-aggressive fish, snails, and other Neocaridina varieties.
We ship our Fire Red Shrimp as juveniles, about 1.2 cm in size.
They breed easily in aquariums if water quality is stable. Females carry eggs for around 3–4 weeks, and young shrimp hatch as miniature versions of the adults, ready to graze and grow.
